Blame the geography nerd within me.

For some reason, I’m incredibly disturbed that the rotating globe on the front of the earthday.net website is actually just a globe-shaped Mercator projection.

Which, of course, is completely inaccurate. And disturbing.

  1. Oh, no, it’s not just you. It looks SO VERY WRONG I can’t even begin to express it.

    The faded ‘back’ part makes it even worse.

    It doesn’t even appear to be rotating, it’s like a filmstrip being pulled across a round opening. With a lighter filmstrip behind it, going in the opposite direction.

  2. Since the entire point of the site is to celebrate Earth Day, you’d think that they’d have the whole globe thing down.
